Thornbury Obstetrics Gynecology Women's Health Care has almost 30 years of experience in the women's health field. We are a locally-owned practice serving patients in the Sand Mountain area. We are proud members of the Albertville Chamber of Commerce. We are also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as members of the American Society of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and the American Urogynecologic Society.

Our Providers

Melvin D. Thornbury, Jr. M.D., F.A.C.O.G is American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG) board certified, a member of the Alabama Medical Association (AMA), American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists (AAGL), and the American Urogynecological Society. He has almost 30 years of experience providing gynecological, obstetrical care while promoting the health of women. Dr. Thornbury received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University and completed his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a veteran of the United States Navy. After years of service, Dr. Thornbury returned to his hometown of Albertville to deliver high quality, compassionate care to his community. He practices exclusively at Marshall Medical Center South. He is married to his wife, Patti, and has three children, Katie, Stephen, and Abigail.

Cynthia “Pie” Evans, C.R.N.P is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She received her degree in nursing from the Druid City Hospital School of Nursing, and her Bachelor of Science at the University of the State of New York. She earned her Master of Science in Adult Acute Care and Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Alabama of Hunstville. Pie has over 20 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge in gynecology, obstetrics, as well as primary care. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Chapter Beta Phi and the North Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association. Pie is married to Johnny. They have two sons, Adam and Taylor, a daughter in law, Paula, and one granddaughter, Carmen.

Suzanne H. Howell, C.R.N.P is certified by the American Associations of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alabama and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville State University. After years of experience in nursing, she obtained her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Samford University. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the North Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association. Suzanne is married to Stuart and they have three children, Brae, Georgia, and Graham.
